Indie Game the Movie
Indie game The Movie Questions
1.Well to how its made, "independent games" take a lot longer than "big games" because with independent games usually have one or two people working on it meaning one or two people have to be responsible for the art style, the program, check for bugs and test it to see if it works properly which depending what game their creating can take from 6 months-2 years. While with big games like Call of duty, GTA, Halo and all those big franchise have multiple teams to work on certain parts of the game like the art division, the programmers and the game testers who'll report about any glitches. Plus the companies who make those games have made so many other games that they don't have to worry about the pressure of there audience and have lots of funds for the game. However with "independent games" the creators have to deal with the pressure of losing their audience because obviously, they'll want the game to come quicker so they might end up posting or commenting "is the game done yet, where is it?!, you guys are so lazy etc. Plus in most cases, money is an issue to because they can only use the money they saved or have in their bank accounts for food, rent and the only way they can make the money back is by selling their games which comes to a risk of failing and might have to deal with finical problems.
2. Well for the developer of Fez Phil Fish, it had to deal with possible suicide because he said if this game ends up failing him then" I would kill myself". He also had to deal with many problems like losing his girlfriend, losing his partner and was worried when he didn't come to sign the papers till the last minute. Also when he realized the demo of his game he had to deal with all the bugs and glitches his game had like not starting or crashing. As for the developers of Super Meat Boy, they had no money left over because they spent day and night working on the game and they also had to delay the game for a while to deal with a few bugs. Another difficulty they had was when the got tricked by Microsoft when they said they would realise the game but when they did it wouldn't show on the main menu of the Xbox Arcade shop but then eventually they fixed it.
3. I guess I would like that I can use my idea and bring it to life in video game form. It would be cool that I would become famous for creating a game that everyone ended up enjoying but they would be a few problems such as having enough money to feed myself/ have a roof over my head and I also might not like that if the game ended up a complete failure and all my hard work would end up be pointless.
4. I would suggest that they have a backup plan in case their game doesn't end up a success. Also that they don't isolate themselves from their friends and family, instead take a break a few times and get some fresh air because working non-stop is too much for one person. Speaking of that i would also suggest that they should have a partner so that it can make it a bit easier but not justing anyone who qualifies because they could end up leaving you and when you want to realise your game but you need your partner signature, they could end up ruining your chance of success which was something Phil Fish had to go through.
5. Well, I would probably say that they can finally be relieved of the pressure of their audience and if the game was successful possibly become famous and make all the money back for their hard work and possibly make a sequel to their game.

Scratch level 4 " Create your game"
Brick breaker
1. The main problem i had was having the ball increase speed each time it hits a ball. In order to fix this problem i had to program a "speed" variable then add " forever if touching colour blue, change speed by 0.6" making the ball faster.
2. The difference between my game the tutorial video, is that i added background music and celebration music when you beat the game. Plus to make it a bit difficult, each time the ball hits a block it'll increase the speed of the ball by 0.6 and added my own personal background to fit the theme of my game.
3. They said it was good but to increase the size of the paddle because sometimes it would glitch and go through it, so i used the "grow tool" to make it bigger. And they said to make it a bit more difficult so i increased the speed it would get from hitting a block from 0.3-0.6.
4. One thing i would do to improve this is possible add power ups to the game to make it more interesting and my next step to my game would to program power ups to show up at random times.

GAME PROPOSAL
So the game that i'm gonna create is based on the game "Brick Breaker". Its a game where the player is a paddle and the goal is to break all the blocks using a ball that bounces on the paddle. But if the ball ends up touching the ground, you lose and you have to restart all over again. In order to do this i have to code the paddle and the block to be in a fixed position but give the paddle mouse control to move it side to side. And code the blocks to disappear once their hit by the ball and possibly increase the speed of the ball. Since i'm leaving for Hawaii i'll work on as much as i can here and when i come back i'll try to finish it.
